Tandem key spoons are a tidy way of attaching the lead horse to the wheeler.  The curved spoon has a small hole at one end for sliding over the buckle where the wheeler traces fix to the wheeler breastplate/collar and then the other end has a larger hole for the attachment of the sprung cockeye found at the end of the leader trace – or a quick release shackle.
